Travel on the land by dog team or snowmobile with skilled Dene hunters. The Gameti Development Corporation is a licensed outfitter. They'll outfit you and guide you through the boreal forest to a camp where you'll share a story of life on the land, and a mug of tea, brewed over a camp stove. Day trips and overnight trips are offered.

Try ice fishing for fat lake trout, or snowshoe across the sparkling lake under the Aurora Borealis, to see a herd of caribou browsing near the shore.

In summer, fish for a day or a weekend under the midnight sun. Rae Lake, Faber Lake and the Camsell River offer excellent angling for lake trout, Arctic grayling and northern pike. Our licensed guides will take you to some of the best spots in our modern boats with motors. While you enjoy the scenery and concentrate on your catch, they'll prepare a "shore lunch" of fish straight from the lake.

In the community, you'll be treated to a Dene feast of caribou or fish with bannock. Then join in the celebrations as the Rae Lakes durmmers beat out an irresistible rhythm, and sing a song of the hunt.

For naturalists, Rae Lakes offers the best of two worlds. The community is loacated at the western edge of the Canadian shield, where it meets the great plains. Wildlife is abundandt - mink, fisher, beaver, caribou and moose. In summer, geese and ducks make their home here, and eagles soar in the sky.
